It’s not too late to start planning– Come out tonight to learn how

Don’t forget to come out to the Millhopper Branch Library in Gainesville tonight at 6:00 if you questions about Wills, Trusts, Living Wills, and the other steps you can take to reduce the burdens created by the death or incapacity of a loved one.  We will be talking about what happens if you pass away or become incapacitated in Florida and

We will also touch on a couple of the things that every parent should have in place for their children.  For example, if you and your spouse were to pass away, who would take care of your children?  Your parents or your spouse’s?  Your spouse’s sister or your crazy uncle?  If none of those options sound appealing, come find out how you can ensure that the right people end up in charge of your children.

Do you have questions but can’t make the talk tonight? Leave a comment, give us a call (352.226.8005), or shoot us an email (adam@adamroarklaw.com) and we will get you sorted out.

The Millhopper Library is located at 3145 NW 43rd Street, Gainesville, FL.  The talk will start at 6:00.  Hope to see you there.

Estate Planning and Incapacity Planning for Same-Sex Couples, Domestic Partners, and Other Members of the LGBT Community

The Roark Law Firm will be hosting a free talk at the Pride Center of North Center Florida this Tuesday at 6:30. Come out and hear about the special issues facing the LGBT community when it comes to Wills, Trusts, Durable Powers of Attorney, Living Wills, and estate planning in general.

In short, the talk will focus on the different ways that the current legal system does not favor members of the LGBT community.  For example, if you were to pass away without a Will (or without utilizing beneficiary designations), your partner would not inherit any of your assets.  Similarly, unless you provide your partner with HIPAA rights, your partner may not be able to speak with your doctors or participate in making health care decisions on your behalf.  To learn more about the current legal system and how you can avoid/improve on these results, please come out this Tuesday evening.

There will be a question and answer session afterwards so come prepared with any questions you might have. The Pride Center is located at 3131 NW 13th Street, Gainesville, FL 32609.
